Crockett High School Class of 1974 – 50 Year Reunion on April 27, 2024
At long last, I have some information to share with everyone regarding the 50th Reunion for the Crockett High School Class of 1974. Please be aware that there is still much more information to come but at least now you can begin to plan for the event. Please read the entire entry below and let me or any other members of the Reunion Committee know if you have any questions, comments, concerns, etc., regarding this upcoming reunion.

This screenshot shows how to get from Crockett High School to Brodie Homestead. However, I would imagine most of us know where Brodie Lane is. Still, this screenshot includes some landmarks that might be new since the last time some of us ventured to that part of South Austin. If you have a smart phone, you should be able to input the address into a Maps application and get turn by turn instructions to the destination.
At this blog site (https://crockett74.com) you can find all information – known and upcoming – about the reunion. While this next feature is not yet updated, you will also be able to pay your reunion registration fees via PayPal at this website (see the upper right-hand corner of the front page of the site). Additionally, you can also register your email address and receive notifications as updates are made to the blogsite. (FYI – in your browser search bar, you do not need to specify www before crockett74.com – you can go directly to the blogsite via address crockett74.com )

Locate your entry in that section and verify the accuracy of your contact information: mailing address, phone number, email address, and your name (it's always possible that your surname may be different now than it was in 2019). If there is any contact information to be updated, please contact Alan Beaubien with your updates and I will ensure the changes are made as appropriate. If you know contact information for anyone else, feel free to provide as applicable. In addition to updates via this blogsite and the Crockett Class of 74 group page on Facebook, there will also be at least one mailing to ensure that all details are distributed to as many classmates as possible.
There is also a Facebook site where you can find information about the 50 year reunion as well as connect to many fellow Class of 1974 classmates. The Facebook group is at https://www.facebook.com/groups/590663714310110/
If you should still be unfamiliar with Facebook, you will need to create an account – it is absolutely free – in order to access the Crockett Class of ’74 page as well as connect with many of your classmates.
We are trying hard to keep costs for this reunion as low as possible. Because of price increases beyond our control, however, the reunion registration fee has NOT yet been finalized as of August 13, 2023. We are working to the best of our abilities to keep the costs as reasonable as possible and our target at this time is $75 – $85 per person and that fee includes meal and soft drinks/water/ice. Again, though, the registration fee details have not yet been finalized as there are numerous factors that ultimately go into determining that cost, including facility rental, catering costs, soft drink and alcoholic beverages, licensed bartender requirements, several other associated miscellaneous expenses, and the number of people who will be attending the reunion. Obviously the costs will fluctuate based on that most important number. There are also plans to have a cash bar at this reunion. If the cost of the reunion registration is problematic for you, please contact me and let's see what we can work out. We want you to attend the reunion!
So please, until we are able to provide you with the registration fee information, do not try to pay anything via this blogsite.
Regarding the registration fee for this 50th reunion, please be aware that any money left over will be earmarked for distribution to all reunion attendees, helping to defray costs for all attendees. I will go on record at this time, though, to temper expectations by noting that it's likely that any such reimbursement of leftover money will almost certainly be minimal. So don't order your new Lear jet just yet. By the same token, if anyone should care to donate above and beyond reunion registration costs towards the 50th reunion, all such contributions will be gladly accepted.
While pre-event registration is open through April 5, 2024, it is important that you register as early as possible as we are required to submit a full head count to the Brodie Homestead proprietors on or before 14 days prior to the reunion event. If you should decide after that April 5 deadline that you want to attend the reunion, you will be able to pay (cash) at the door but it is still important that you inform the Reunion Committee of your plans to attend before April 13, 2024.
Until the 40th reunion we made it possible to order a hardcopy directory if you couldn't or chose not to attend the reunion. This time around, just as with that 45th reunion, the directory will be posted strictly online (at this website). By posting the directory online only, it helps keep the reunion registration costs as low as possible.
If you do not have access to the Internet and need directions/map for the Brodie Homestead facility, please contact any of the reunion committee members for assistance. The members of the committee, along with contact information, are listed at the website, http://www.crockett74.com
We would ask your help, too, in tracking down missing classmates. A list of missing – or misplaced – classmates can be found at the Crockett74 website. If you are able to do so, please take a look at the list of missing classmates and let us know if you have any contact information regarding the whereabouts of any of these people.
Also, if you are aware of any classmate deaths since the last reunion, please share that information with us so that we can include those people in our In Memoriam section of the directory (at the website you will also find a list of all known deceased classmates).
